Broadband Stimulus NOFA is now available for viewing on the WCCA website.

As you know the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) provided $7.2 billion of funding to promote broadband deployment and broadband adoption projects.

The funds will be allocated through two programs: The DOA Rural Utilities Service (RUS) Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP) and the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).

The BIP program is designed to encourage rural broadband deployment. The BTOP is designed to promote broadband deployment in underserved and unserved areas of the US, to enhance public broadband capacity and to broadband adoption projects.

Attached, please find the Notice of Funds Availability (NOFA) for both the BIP and BTOP loan/grant programs. All the information needed to apply is contained in the attached NOFA.

The programs are seeking applicants for grants and loans based on very specific criteria. Applications for funding must be received between July 14, 2009 and August 14, 2009. The attached document details application and funding criteria.

The NOFA details numerous stipulations on grant and loan funding for BIT and BTOP applications.
